RICE storage baskets are some of our very first products, and we are still huge fans - especially excited about the beautiful natural material. This is why you will of course always find many RICE products made from raffia.
All our raffia products are handmade in the amazing natural material, raffia. Raffia fibers come from palm fronds – and all RICE raffia products come from Madagascar... the place where the history of RICE began. The products are made with clear conscience and the heart being in the right place – the production takes place in the mountains of Madagascar and supports more than 300 families on the Red Island. Raffia varies in colour from nature, and this variation is reflected in the colouring as well. This means two baskets are never quite alike – this is part of the product’s charm. If exposed to direct sunlight, the colours will fade over time. The colour of the raffia products might rub off if exposed to liquids.
